Nag Panchami 2024: Significance
Nag Panchami is considered the most sacred day and this day is celebrated as a major festival which is dedicated to worship Nagas. On this auspicious day, devotees offer prayers to Nagas with immense devotion and full faith. They express their gratitude for taking care of them and seek blessings for the well being of their family. Nagas always have their own importance in Hindu religion from Vasuki to Shesh Nag, there are so many other Nagas also, who are worshipped widely by Hindu devotees.
According to Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that sage Kashyap and the daughter of Daksha, Kadru are the parents of all the nagas. Shesha was the eldest of all, and then came Vasuki, Manasa, and many others. There are various stories associated with nagas in which Nagas have always shown their aggressive nature but there are some of them, who get easily pleased by seeing the devotion of the devotees.

As per Hindu Mythology, Janmajeya, the son of Parikshit had organised Yagya for Nagas to take revenge from the snakes and wanted to kill their entire clan because his father Parikshit was killed by Takshak snake. To protect all the snakes, the son of Rishi Jaratkaru and Aastik Muni stopped this Yajna. It was the day, when he stopped the Yajna was Shravan Shukla Panchami. He saved Takshak snake and his clan. Since then, Nag Panchami is celebrated.
Nag Panchami 2024: Celebration
Nag Panchami is a significant day. This festival is celebrated in Nepal also by the Hindu devotees. It is believed that Kathmandu valley used to be a lake, which was occupied by dangerous snakes and people could not live there happily then they worshipped Nagas and gave a special place to all the Nagas. Since then, Nag Panchami is celebrated with great happiness and zeal.
This day is celebrated in Ujjain and devotees get an opportunities as Nag Chandreshwar Temple opens only on the day Nag Panchami day. This temple opens for 24 hours and devotees can visit Mahakaleshwar Temple to have a glimpse of Lord Nag Chandreshwar.
Nag Panchami is also celebrated in Haridwar at Mansa Mata Temple where a large number of devotees visit to have a glimpse of Goddess Mansa, and Goddess Mansa is considered as a daughter of Lord Shiva.
