Different styles of\u00a0abstract work have brought emerging and seasoned artists together,\u201d says\u00a0Adhvika Agarwal, who has curated the Rang Mirage Art Gallery\u2019s latest exhibition Abstract Alchemy: A Fusion of Form and Color. It showcases the works of nine artists and brings\u00a0an amalgamation of a wide range of abstract art in a series where\u00a0each canvas is\u00a0\u00a0different from the other and yet connected through non representational art.<\/p>\n

Adhvika says that abstract art is a way of depicting a plethora of emotions to the observer, without even\u00a0a distinguishable form. Talking about one of the artworks, New Beginning by Mahesh M Karembele, she\u00a0\u00a0says the painting\u00a0makes you feel as though you are standing on a seashore with a deep and vivid sunset in the background encompassing the horizon. \u201cAnother artist can have an entirely different\u00a0interpretation of the same painting;\u00a0that is\u00a0the magic and beauty of abstract work as an art form,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

Inspiration<\/h4>\n

Artist, Bhola Rana,\u00a0\u00a0talks about how his place of origin, Jharkhand,\u00a0plays a driving role in shaping his art and the perspectives he draws.\u00a0His canvas titled\u00a0Black Diamond is about coal.\u00a0\u201cI have used red and black colours\u00a0\u00a0to signify the frequent fires in the coal mines, which often lead to the death of the workers,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

\u00a0In another work, using acrylic on a red canvas, Rana depicts the constant process of urbanisation\u00a0\u00a0not only on land but within the trenches of the ocean too. His colour palette is minimal, yet strong and gives the viewer\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a crude imagery of a non-figurative art.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The same abstract imagery can be seen in\u00a0\u00a0Glimpse of Nature by Renu Jain, in which she uses the reverse painting style, using mixed media on acrylic. \u201cWhat you paint as an artist on one side is not\u00a0what\u00a0\u00a0the viewer sees from the other. Every painting creates multiple\u00a0layers of understanding,\u201d she says and through her painting\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0talks about the\u00a0\u00a0continuous\u00a0\u00a0urbanisation diminishing natural surroundings.\u00a0\u201cThe exhibits here elevate different living spaces in Nature into a magical realm of artistic expressions,\u201d says Renu..<\/p>\n

The effort<\/h4>\n

Artist Keerti Agarwal\u00a0\u00a0talks about the importance of learning and what goes on behind an artist\u2019s hard work. \u201cIt is not just a random brush stroke, but days or months of\u00a0work behind a painting that may look like a splash of colour to many others,\u201d she says.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Artist Nawal Kishore and curator Manisha Gawade, who inaugurated the exhibition, feel in this age of\u00a0turmoil and negativity that we live in, only art and\u00a0\u00a0culture can invoke positivity. \u201cThere is a value in abstract art because it helps to contemplate creativity and heal,\u201d says Kishore.<\/p>\n

\u201cA cuckoo\u2019s call isn\u2019t comprehensible, but is soothing to the\u00a0\u00a0ears; the same way, abstracts may not have any form, but they\u00a0lend an element of\u00a0\u00a0serenity to the observer,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

Other artists whose paintings are featured in the exhibition include Bipin Roy, Deepak Sonar, Vivek Nimbolkar, Kishor Roy, Gopal Namjoshi and Rajesh Baderia.<\/p>\n
