A final proposal has been sent to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and a sanction is pending. The project is around six kilometers long and will cost an estimated \u20b91800 crore,\u201d a senior official of GMRC told <i>businessline<\/i>. GMRC is a 50:50 venture of the centre and\u00a0state government.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-bullet-list\">\n<li><b>Also read: <\/b>Seaplane service between Kochi and Idukki takes off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This six-kilometer stretch will have four metro stations. Three of these stations will be elevated while the metro station at the Ahmedabad airport will be underground. \u201cWe do not wish to disturb the skyline at the airport and so about one kilometer of this route near the airport will be constructed underground,\u201d a senior GMRC official added. The new route will branch off from Motera, near Narendra Modi stadium, and will directly connect the airport via Koteshwar and Koba.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"article-bullet-list\">\n<li><b>Also read: <\/b>Adani Kattupalli port continues to face operational challenges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Phase-1 of the Ahmedabad Metro costing \u20b912,700 crore is already functional since September 2022, except a 1.4 kilometer under construction route between Thaltej and Thaltej Gam. The Phase-II of the project costing \u20b95384 crore was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2024. However, only 21 of the 28-kilometer-long Phase-II section is currently operational.
