Over 1.5 years after their wedding, Indian cricketer KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty surprised their fans and well-wishers by announcing their pregnancy. The celebrity couple took to social media where they posted a special picture with the text “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025.” In just a few hours, the post went viral on the internet and many celebs including Krishna Shroff, Shibani Akhtar, among others congratulated the couple.

KL Rahul and Athiya’s love story
For the unversed, Athiya Shetty is the daughter of Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty and his wife Mana. Cricketer KL Rahul and his actress wife Athiya Shetty met through a common friend at a party in February 2019 and hit it off instantly. However, the two kept their relationship under wraps for quite some time until Athiya’s designer friend Vikram Phadnis spilled the beans on social media. In a tweet, Vikram teased Athiya in 2019 saying, “You seem to be v hyper and excited these days ??? Let’s go to KL ??? ….. Kuala Lumpur (sic),” he had written. In response, Athiya had tweeted, “TIME to block you!”.
In December 2019, the duo had apparently travelled to Thailand together for the New Year and they made their first social media post together. While they also wished each other on birthdays on social media, they refrained from posting or speaking about each other in public. It was in 2021 when KL Rahul made their relationship Insta-official by posting their picture together and wishing Athiya on her birthday. Athiya too started accompanying the cricketer on his tours which further hinted at their bond getting stronger. Finally after years of dating and being together, the couple got married in January 2023 and now they are all set to embrace parenthood!

Relationship lesson to learn from KL Rahul-Athiya Shetty
While both KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty are celebrities and accomplished in their own fields of work and their relationship was speculated for long, the couple refrained from speaking about each other or their relationship in public. The couple seems to have a strong bond and they don’t need external validation for it. They are mature and have a deep bond and understanding, which keeps their relationship going. So much so that they even had a private wedding which was attended by only close friends and family.
Here’s wishing the new parents-to-be lots of happiness in their parenthood journey. This is going to be their first child together.
