Desserts are meant to cheer up our soul and taste buds. And with a similar motive, Google Doodle decided to celebrate the day with animated artwork around S’mores. The Google Doodle website update reads, “This slideshow Doodle celebrates s\u2019mores, the popular campfire snack made of toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and graham crackers.”
Celebrating s\u2019mores, the official website of Google Doodle wrote, “Let\u2019s gather at the campfire to learn s\u2019more about everyone\u2019s favorite outdoorsy treat! Today\u2019s handmade Doodle celebrates s\u2019mores, the delectable nostalgic fireside snack.On this day in 1925, an article called Patrol Leaders Have Outing came out mentioning some-mores’ being introduced as a new dish at Camp Andree (national Girl Scout camp).
It further reads, “To make a s\u2019more, grab a long, thin stick, poke a marshmallow onto one end, and roast it over a flame. When it\u2019s as toasted as you like, break a graham cracker in half, add the chocolate, and squish the marshmallow in the middle to make a sandwich. Fun fact: the s\u2019more first appeared in a 1920s cookbook and was called a \u201cgraham cracker sandwich.\u201d The confection became popular among Girl Scouts, who dubbed the treat \u201csome more,\u201d which eventually became s\u2019more.”
“While traditional s\u2019mores are only three ingredients, some have gotten creative and built on the recipe with caramel, jam, peanut butter, or cookies. However you fire them up, enjoy a s\u2019more to give summer a proper farewell!,” the post concludes.
For the unversed, s’more is a dessert made by sandwiching a toasted marshmallow and chocolate between two graham crackers. The name is short for “some more”. Also, S’mores are popular in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and are traditionally cooked over a campfire.<\/div>\n
