Muharram bank holiday, Bank Holiday in July 2024: Banks in several states will be closed on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in observance of Muharram. It is the first month of the Islamic calendar and one of the four holy months of the year.

Banks will be closed in Tripura, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, MP, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad – Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, UP, Bengal, New Delhi, Patna, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh.
July 16 (Tuesday)-Banks in Uttarakhand will be closed on Harela Day. Harela is a Hindu festival observed in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and some parts of Himachal Pradesh.
As per the RBI guidelines, bank holidays in India fall into three categories:
- Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act.
- Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday.
- Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
